Ashtanga: Full Primary Series

The Ashtanga Primary Series, known as “Yoga Chikitsa” in Sanskrit, or yoga therapy, is an ancient system of yoga that was brought to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. This challenging and disciplined style of yoga entails a specific, flowing sequence of poses moving from Sun Salutations to a series of standing, seated and inverted asanas (poses) in a moving meditation. Attention is paid to the breath (ujjayi pranayama) and internal aspects of the body (bandhas) to cultivate inner awareness, calm the mind and produce intense heat to detoxify the entire body.

Vinyasa

The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized” movement, and refers to a carefully arranged sequence of asanas (yoga postures). Movement from one asana to the next follows the breath. The result is a smooth, flowing class that builds heat, endurance, flexibility, strength and concentration.Students are encouraged to listen to their individual body as they move, paying attention to the breath to maintain a safe, effective practice. This class is designed for students looking for a more active practice. All levels welcome, however some asana experience is recommended.

Chair Yoga

This is a gentle form of yoga, practiced sitting in a chair or standing using a chair for support. The class is designed for those who would like to receive the benefits of a yoga practice but have limited mobility, health issues, or are just new to yoga.
